What is the PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) Course?

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course—often called the Nitrox or EANx course—is designed to teach you how to safely dive with air that contains higher oxygen and lower nitrogen levels. By breathing less nitrogen, you can enjoy longer dives and shorter surface intervals, making your time underwater more efficient and enjoyable.

Why should I become an Enriched Air Diver?

Diving with enriched air allows you to:

Extend your bottom time during each dive.

Reduce your surface interval between dives.

Enhance overall safety and comfort while diving.

It’s one of the most popular and practical specialties for recreational divers worldwide, especially for those planning multiple dives a day or on liveaboard trips.

What are the course prerequisites and duration?

Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent).

Minimum Age: 12 years or above.

Total Duration: 1–2 days.

The course includes both theory and practical learning, covering oxygen management, analyzing gas blends, and dive planning using enriched air.

What equipment will I use during the course?

You’ll use standard scuba gear, including:

Mask

Snorkel

Fins

Wetsuit

Buoyancy Compensator (BC)

Regulator

Dive Tank

Weights

Upon successful completion, you’ll receive the PADI Enriched Air Diver certification, recognized globally. This certification qualifies you to dive with enriched air blends up to 40% oxygen, expanding your diving capabilities and adventure opportunities.
