Your 1 + 1 Day Course
Two parts: your classroom theory done from home, then one focused pool-training day with us in Goa.
Day 1 — Classroom Theory (at home)Work through the SSI Open Water classroom academics from home using SSI Digital Learning — how scuba systems work, pressure and breathing, underwater communication, dive planning and safety procedures, finishing with the knowledge reviews. Done before you arrive in Goa.
Day 2 — Pool Training Day in GoaMeet at Novotel Resort & Spa, Candolim for your confined-water session. With an SSI instructor you practise 25+ essential scuba skills in the pool — comfortable breathing underwater, mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, controlled ascents and descents, and emergency procedures — plus a skills review. Free lunch at Novotel included.
By the end of your pool day your academics and confined-water skills are complete and signed off — all that’s left is your open water dives, which you can do with us or anywhere in the world.
Prerequisites
Basic swimming ability and comfort in water
Medically fit to dive (we provide a short medical questionnaire)

Your Ocean Dives — the Next Step
Your referral covers the theory and pool training. The final step to full SSI Open Water Diver certification is 4 open water dives — and because your referral is recognised worldwide, you can complete them whenever and wherever you like:
Complete them with us at Grandé Island, Goa — 30 minutes by boat from Candolim
Or at any SSI dive centre worldwide — the Maldives, Thailand, the Red Sea, Bali and beyond
When you dive with us at Grandé Island you’ll train on gentle reefs rich with marine life — moray eels, blue-spotted stingrays, parrotfish and groupers — across 4 dives to a maximum of 18m. Ask us for current ocean-dive pricing and dates when you book your referral.
The 4 ocean dives are booked separately from this referral package. We’ll help you plan them on your training day.

SSI referrals are typically valid for 12 months, giving you plenty of time to complete your ocean dives. If it lapses, contact us — we can usually update your status directly with SSI.
